Book Study: Unpacking the Pyramid Model: Practical Guide for Preschool Teachers by Hemmeter, Ostrosky & Fox. This book study explores the Pyramid Model and its strategies to provide early educators with guidance on the research-based practices used to promote social-emotional competence of all children, prevent social-emotional delays in children who are at risk for emotional and behavioral issues, and intervene effectively. It is recommended, but not required to have completed a Pyramid Cohort before participating in this book study. Check out the STAR NET Statewide calendars starnet.org for upcoming Pyramid Cohort dates. Full participation is required to receive credit. No partial credit will be given.

Note: Approximately three weeks before the day of the first webinar session, registrants will receive an email to confirm receipt of their registration request and important instructions that should be viewed prior to the first session.

DATES: September 24, October 22, November 19, December 10 You must be present at all four sessions in order to receive CEs. 10hrs of CEs will be awarded for full participation.

Learner Objectives:

1 - Analyze attitudes about challenging behaviors and its impact on relationships with children and families.

2 - Investigate building positive relationships and designing prosocial environments.

3 - Implement activities that promote engagement, positive attention and prosocial interaction with peers.

4 - Examine the importance of teaching social emotional skills to include friendship, emotional literacy, controlling anger, and problem solving.

5 - Examine Individualized Behavior Supports including the function of challenging behavior as a form of communication
